A bullet that travels 6 inches through a child can hit more organs than a bullet that travels the same distance in an adult. Kids who survive often suffer lifelong consequences. "Their lives are forever changed," said Dr. Judy Schaechter, chair of the University of Miami Health System pediatrics department.
